A Chinese Huangyangmu Toggle, Early 19th Century
A lovely Chinese toggle made of Huangyangmu (boxwood). The toggle has lively, deep carvings representing a plum tree depicted with blossoms and a bird flying over the tree trunk, probably looking for fruit, while a gentlemen is resting under the tree.
The wonderful workmanship creates a three-dimensional feel to the piece with a warm smoothness. Excellent condition.
